Reiki
The Japanese word reiki is pronounced "ray key" and translates as 'universal life-force energy'.

Reiki is a safe, gentle, non-invasive hands-on healing system that uses the energy that is within and all around us to help a person heal without using pressure, manipulation or massage.

The session is usually given whilst the person is lying on a couch, or can also be given whilst they are seated and the person is always fully clothed. The practitioner's hands are then placed in a sequence of positions over the entire body in a non-intrusive way.

Reiki flows to the areas of need, soothing pain and supporting the body's natural ability to heal itself and restore balance to one's life.

It is a system of balancing, healing and harmonising all aspects of the person - mind, body, emotions and spirit. It activates the body's ability to heal itself by releasing blocked energies, cleansing the body of unwanted substances and working to create a state of balance.
People find that they feel very calm and relaxed during and after a reiki treatment, and some fall asleep and wake up feeling they have had a good, full night's sleep.

Reiki may be used to help you in many different ways, whether physical or emotional. The body uses the reiki energy to help overcome conflicts within the self or for such things as restless sleep, breathing problems, aches and pains, stress and tension - to name but a few.
